As non-disabling ischemic events, transient ischemic attack and minor ischemic stroke portend a significant risk of disability or death.1 Among patients with nondisabling cerebral ischemic events, 10%–20%experienced recurrent stroke within 90 days, and approximately half of patients experiencing recurrent stroke become disabled or dead.2 However, the effect of recurrent stroke on poor functional outcome in TIA or minor stroke in China has not been examined.
