Conclusion

MM is an extremely rare entity with a benign clinical course. Melanocytic tumors of the CNS have a typical appearance on MRI scans, however, the differential diagnosis between malignant melanoma and melanocytoma still depends on pathological criteria. Surgical resection in an en-bloc fashion should be the ideal. The majority of SMMs are located in the intradural extramedullary compartment, and gross total resection should be achievable. The outcome is generally favorable with complete remission and long-term event-free survival.
