Background And Purpose

Previous clinical studies have confirmed that aspirin-clopidogrel therapy was superior to aspirin monotherapy in acute non-cardioembolic minor stroke or transient ischemic attack. This study aimed to explore the effectiveness of dual therapy with aspirin-clopidogrel to that aspirin monotherapy in patients with acute non-cardioembolic ischemic stroke from the real world.

Method

All patients were divided into aspirin monotherapy and dual therapy with aspirin and clopidogrel. Chi-square test and one-way ANOVA were used to compare the distribution of baseline categorical variables and continuous variables between the two groups. The proportional hazards regression and propensity score matching were used to analyze the association of antiplatelet therapy and clinical outcome. The multivariate-adjusted HR with their 95% CI for clinical outcomes between the two groups were examined using Cox regression model. Kaplan–Meier product limit method was used to generate survival plots, and the significance of differences between groups was tested by the log-rank test. All analyses were performed with SAS software version 9.1.4. Difference significance was defined with a two-sided alpha level of 5%.
