Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) has a high mortality and morbidity in the world. However, the prediction of severity and prognosis of ICH is still challenging. Previous study has showed that high CRP level is independently associated with poorer clinical outcome and higher in-hospital mortality in patients with ICH. Recently, the CRP/albumin ratio has been established as an independent prognostic marker in patients with severe illness, infection or malignancy. However, the association between C-reactive protein/albumin ratio and the severity and prognosis of intracerebral hemorrhage has not been evaluated.
The current study included 528 patients from a multi-center, prospective, consecutive, observational cohort study. Poor clinical outcome was defined as the modified Rankin Scale ≥ 3. GG was calculated using admission blood glucose minus hemoglobin A1c-derived average blood glucose. Logistic regression analyses were performed to determine the association between GG and poor clinical outcomes at 30-day, 90-day and 1-year.
GG was independently associated with poor outcomes and may be a valuable prognostic factor in patients with sICH.
