Background And Purpose

Cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) refers to a group of pathological processes with various aetiologies that affect the small arteries, arterioles, venules, and capillaries of the brain. Its pathogenesis and risk factors is unknown. And few studies specifically investigate the association between LS7 and the risk of cerebral small vessel disease. Thus, we aimed to investigate whether LS7 score were associated with the risk of CSVD including total cerebral small vessel disease burden and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) markers of CSVD.

Method

We used Kruskal-Wallis Test and Pearson’s Chi-Square Test to compare continuous and categorical variables, respectively. We examined the association of the LS7 score with total CSVD burden and MRI markers by the ordinal and binary logistic regression analysis.

Conclusion

Ideal LS7 score, indicating excellent cardiovascular health, was associated with lower total CSVD burden. Optimizing the risk factors captured by LS7 may reduce the progression of CSVD.
